Engagement Activity:

• 3-5 minute writing exercise - What is the definition of masculinity to you?
• Write down some of the characteristics of masculinity as you understand it.
• Where do you learn these characteristics? How do you “perform” masculinity?

Group Discussion:

• What are gender roles? What is normal behavior for a man/boy? What is normal behavior for a woman/girl?
• What does society teach boys about emotion? About strength?
• How can we create our own narrative about what it means to be a man?
