Scholars Program
Our program operates in partnership with Bedford Stuyvesant Collegiate Charter School, and all of our scholars currently attend this school. Scholars and mentors meet twice a month on Saturdays. During the first half of a typical session, scholars will engage in discussions based on the character building and leadership themes outlined in our custom three phase curriculum. During the second half, scholars participate in electives geared towards expanding their personal or career interests. In special sessions, scholars can participate in an off-site service project, such as helping out at a soup kitchen or food pantry. A few times a year, we also invite guest speakers who highlight the leadership and professional possibilities available to the scholars.
Alumni Program
Upon completion of the 8th grade, Scholars become Alumni of the program. As a means to provide continuing support for our Alumni as they progress through high school, mentors meet with them once a month informally outside of the school setting, such as going to the movies, dining out, or participating in service based projects. Alumni are also encouraged to visit the Scholars program and provide informal counseling to current scholars.
Parents Program
Parents are required to attend multiple sessions throughout the year. These parent-focused sessions are hosted by a team of school educators, therapists, and other parents acting as peer counselors. The goal of this program is to give parents resources and tools to coach their sons during this critical phase of development.
